Flight time – 1 second

What was supposed to be a normal climbing session turned to be more than what I thought it would be. For the past few weeks, I’ve been climbing only once a week. This week has been an exceptional one.

I started my runnig routine last week. It’s a short jogging session for two evenings and a climbing session on one evening. This week, I ran on monday evening, climbed on tuesday evening, ran again on wednesday evening and climbed on thursday. Talk about packing my evenings up. It’s tiring, but it sure feels like I’ve made full use of my days.

Climbing is supposed to be relaxed. Then again, it’s how hard you want to push yourself. For me, I just want to enjoy the climb; and improve my fitness at the same time. So, I did the usual stuff – two rounds of endurance routes before attempting the more challenging routes.

9.30 came and I decided to go for one more last one before calling it a night. The initial climb up was ok. Then came the last move – one which appeared to be a little out of reach for me. What the heck? the last tile is a very good one. Deep and good.

Jump …

I launched for the tile.

I was off the wall.

I touched the tile!

I helded on to it.

My body continued on it’s trajectory. The momentum was greater than I thought. My body continued swinging, so much so that it went past the point of control and my hand slipped. Yes, it slipped off from a very good hold!

I came crashing down. Good thing there was a huge and soft crash pad below. Still, as I was falling, my body still had some momentum in it. I landed on my face and shoulder. *OUCH* I lay there for the next few seconds, dazed.

My face seems ok. I can see what’s around me. My shoulder? Feels a little strange. Aching, really. At least I’m still able to move it. Phew.

———————————————

Right now, my shoulder is still aching. I’ve got a medicated plaster on it. Let’s see how it goes the next morning. Just when I thought I can get back into the groove. Get back into climbing twice a week, this has to happen.

Ah well.

Come to think of it, the fall was probably from 3 metres up. 3 metres down, right smack to ground level. It not for the crash pad, I think the solid concrete floor wouldn’t have been that friendly. Then again, if it was solid concrete, I wouldn’t have launched for that tile in the first place. :shake:

  2. whoa… take care… no.. not injuries again..:fail:

  3. qwerty -> Whoa … kinda like a kamakazi pilot, eh?

Muggs -> Sad to say, it’s injuries again. Not an acquaintance I’d like to associate myself with, but it seems to want to associate itself with me. ❗
