It appears that I’ve been hit again. Quite badly this time.

Within a span of 2 hours, I’ve for 71 spam comments. Thankfully, they were moderated before they could do any damage.

Commenting will now be disabled until I can put something in place which will prevent spam comments altogether, instead of going into the moderation queue Re-enabled.

Well, I can’t find the plug-in which I was hoping for. Something which will automatically turn commenting off, for post older then a week or so. Looks like I’ll just have to keep deleting spam.

Now I know why was my blog having some strange sort of DNS problems. It has got nothing to do with DNS updating issues, or poor connection to my host. Hopefully.

As I found out this morning, the connection problems I experienced for the whole of Saturday and for a good part of Sunday is caused by some Stupid People’s Advertising Methodology.

Stupid bloody fuc’in SPAM.

I’ve been getting … what I percieve to be spam in excess rather recently. It is unsolicited. I did not opt in for anything. Advertisements which are unsolicited. If I want advertisements, I would probably go for some ad service which will pay me for space, or clicks, or something like that.

A proposition for you “ad placers”, if you will.

Instead of trying to bombard my site with comment spam, which eventually gets deleted away, why not pay me, and I will place a small text link at the bottom of my site. We will both be winners in this way. You will have your text link, and I will not get any comment spam. How’s that?

More spam yet again. None of them get thru, but in the end, I still have to moderate them. Not a very big deal, only that it just increments the comments counter. I don’t like the idea of the numbers getting wasted just because of comment spam. One of my querks actually.

I’m trying out a new one actually. Does a check of the comment against a list of blacklisted URLs, text and what not. It should work fine, since lots of other bloggers out there are using it to, I think. There’s a captcha at the end. Did a simple test, and it appears to be working.

I’m also considering opening registration in the near future. Comments would automatically go thru. Well, I’ll see how things go. Didn’t want to implement this captcha thing, but well, blaim it on the spammers.

Seems like it’ll never cease. 6 this time.

AT least this time around, they are all queued for moderation. They do not get displayed at all. Maybe I should try something else. Interesting this is, instead of a comment full of links, they were rambling on, not seeming to make any sense at all.

For a moment there, I thought WordPress is immune to spam, unlike Movabletype. Looks like I was wrong.
